Food Support gives refugee family stability
Almaz Eritrea
When the ravages of war tore apart her home country, Eritrea, Almaz fled to the United States with her two young children. Nothing is more important to Almaz than giving her family a safe and stable home.
The family is glad to live in a peaceful community in Saint Paul, but Almaz is now a single mother. Stretching her minimum-wage salary to cover everything she and her children need is a constant struggle. She visits Neighborhood House’s food shelf in Highland Park about once a month.
“When I get a better job, I won’t need to use food assistance,” she says. But for now, Almaz is glad to have a little help from Neighborhood House.
